The Wendish Carnival (Zapust)

Gestern bekamen wir traditionellen Besuch unserer Dorfgemeinschaft. Zur wendischen Fastnacht (Zapust) gehört dieser Trachtenumzug, der durch die Dörfer von Haus zu Haus zieht und dort tanzt und musiziert um den Winter auszutreiben. Im Gegenzug gab es Speis und Trank.

 

Yesterday we received a traditional visit from our village community. The Wendish carnival (Zapust) includes this procession in traditional costume, which moves through the villages from house to house, dancing and playing music to drive out the winter. In return there was food and drink.
